Oxford Creators was born after years of 'fighting the education system' and frustration at the lack of options
for children under the age of 14 that did not attend school or were at risk of exclusion.
In July 2021 my son was 'directed off-site'. This means he remained on-roll with his secondary school, but had been completely cut off from all education, friends and social activities. He was never permanently excluded....He is a highly intelligent boy, glowing educational reports from teachers, focused on learning. Unfortunately, he was triggered by incidents in school. His deep rooted childhood trauma and anxiety was not recognised.
Watching my son going through this horrific experience made me determined to create a better reality and future for him. I tried to fight the system to get my son the education he deserves but to no avail. I also found out there are thousands of children around the UK in similar situations.
Rather than fighting, I'm now on a mission to reimagine education and am focusing on how I can help support these children, their parents and work with forward thinking teachers to create a community of change makers.
Our most misunderstood kids are being repeatedly failed. These children deserve help to break patterns, they need to feel valued and know they can create a life full of positive opportunities. By working together, we can change their story, raise their self-esteem and inspire them to achieve.
If you can support Oxford Creators, I would be extremely grateful. We are looking for volunteers, donations and partnerships with businesses across Oxfordshire.
